Following up on the idea of expanded hyperlinked texts, how will this so-called digital age change the use of imagination in storytelling? If people are fed images — stills & live-action – external information, eventually smell-o-vision, what is the role of the imagination? Does the reader/viewer/smeller have anything left to contribute? How does this contribution or lack thereof change the role of the storyteller?
That’s right! We’re more important than ever! As people cede even their responsibility to sensualize (verb; to engage all the senses in the pursuit of understanding) the stories we tell, OUR responsbility to tell an engaging and accurate tale becomes paramount. Long live the excessive use of adjectives & adverbs!
