It’s 7:57 a.m. For the record, I don’t get up this early. The sun hasn’t cleared the big maple on my east side, and I am solar activated. But it’s release day. So in celebration, I am going to walk the dog, eat toast, and go to the day job. I know this doesn’t sound like celebration, but bear with me. Because at lunch time, I’m going to sneak out, find the nearest bookstore and wander between the shelves to find my book. My book!
Thank you, Kerry Donovan, my editor who saw potential six drafts deep and the other fine folks at NAL who made a story into a book; thank you, Becca Stumpf, my agent at Prospect Agency, who helped me figure out the business stuff; thanks, Joey and Betty and Shirley, my critique partners of forever; thanks, RWA and RCRW for teaching me how to write; thanks, English Bay Batter Company who makes 8 lb. buckets o’ cookie dough; and thanks, Mom and Dad and sister and MomMom and fam, who sent me the cutest card ever with SEDUCED BY SHADOWS photoshopped onto a bookshelf with Shakespeare and so other guys you mighta heard of. And thanks to my XY who understands that art comes before toilet scrubbing.
Ooh look, the sun is up now. Time to get started.
