Writer friend Maggie Jaimeson recently had her birthday and wrote a wonderful post on wisdom. I mostly want cake. And ice cream. Possibly with chocolate syrup.
If I could also have world peace, an end to wildfires in the West, and a truly clean source of renewable energy, that’d be lovely too. But I’ll probably settle for a book-buying binge later today.

Are you channeling Leslie Gore with new lyrics? 🙂 I am not at all surprised you will eat cake for your birthday. Hmmm…reading indulgences. Here are ones I have in my TBR. In SF – Love Minus Eighty by Will McIntosh. Described as a cross between Phillip K. Dick and Jane Austin. Creepy but wonderful. Of course, I am a huge Kristin Hannah fan, so I also have I’ll Fly Away on my TBR pile. It is a follow up to Firefly Lane, 25 years later. IMO Kristin can take you through the emotional ringer but still leave you with hope and love in the end and make you believe it.

Hey, happy (belated) birthday! My latest rec to writer pal is Delicious! by Ruth Reichl — she’s a food writer, so it’s foodie-skewed, but the story is exceptionally well-written, the characters are great and the story is pure NYC fun.

I’ve recently read all these: Derelict by L J Cohen, YA sci fi and very enjoyable; all the Play by Play stories by Jaci Burton (who knew I’d have a thing for jocks?), Deeper than Need by Shiloh Walker (can’t wait for the next book to come out), and re-read one of my fave Nora Roberts books, The Search. In fact your lovely photos of your birthday hike reminded me of this book. Now read the latest in Victoria Laurie’s Abby Cooper: Psychic Eye series, Fatal Fortune.
